In 2009, the Canadian Hermeneutic Institute (CHI) was established with its inaugural meeting in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The intent of the institute was to bring together scholars of hermeneutics and hermeneutic research across disciplines in creative dialogue and conversations of philosophy, research, and practice.  The co-founders of the CHI are Dr. Nancy Johnston, York University; Dr. Deborah McLeod, Dalhousie University/Capital Health; and Dr. Nancy Moules, University of Calgary.

The CHI is open to all scholars and students of hermeneutic work. It provides a lively and vibrant network of discussion, learning, and collaboration.
